What’s Included in Core Support?

Behind the Scenes – Proactive & Intelligent Management We don’t wait for things to break.

Our monitoring and maintenance systems work quietly in the background to spot and resolve issues before they affect your team.

  • Systems Monitoring
We use a mix of powerful open source tools (such as Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana) alongside commercial platforms where appropriate. This gives us deep visibility into servers, services, disk space, resource usage, logs, and real-world availability (e.g. email flow testing). Problems are often fixed before users even notice.
  • Patch & Update Management
Keeping systems secure and stable is critical. We handle operating system patches for Windows, Linux, and macOS, plus third-party applications.
Open source environments often have even more efficient native update mechanisms (apt, dnf, etc.), which we automate and orchestrate across your infrastructure using tools like Ansible and Terraform.
  • Security & Antivirus Management
Layered defence is key. We monitor and manage antivirus across desktops and gateways, and we’re happy to incorporate effective open source security components (such as ClamAV or integrated solutions in open source firewalls) alongside commercial tools where they add value.
In Front of the Scenes – Responsive Human Support

When you need help, our engineers are directly available (we answer the vast majority of calls within seconds).

  • Desktop & Application Support — Onsite, remote, or by phone. Full support for Linux desktops (Ubuntu, Debian, etc.), Windows, and macOS, plus common business applications.
  • General IT Advice & Strategy — Honest recommendations, including evaluation of open source alternatives (e.g. LibreOffice, Nextcloud, self-hosted collaboration tools) when they make sense for your organisation.
  • Third-Party Liaison — We act as your central point of contact, coordinating with software vendors, hosting providers, and open source communities.

Additional Options

  • New Computer & Device Setup — We can include onboarding of new hardware into your managed service so there are no surprise time-based charges when you expand or refresh equipment.
  • Regular Onsite Engineering Visits — Proactive visits to handle maintenance, planning, and hands-on work.
  • Open Source Networking & Infrastructure — We have extensive real-world experience with high-performance open source routing and firewall solutions such as VyOS (we’ve been using and recommending it since 2006) and similar projects like OPNsense/pfSense. These often deliver enterprise-grade features at a fraction of the cost of traditional proprietary hardware.

Why Our Approach to Core Support Stands Out

  • Engineering-led, not sales-led — Our engineers talk directly to you. No unnecessary products pushed.
  • Strong open source philosophy — We actively prefer free or low-cost open source solutions when they are the best technical and commercial fit. This reduces licensing costs, eliminates vendor lock-in, and often improves security through transparency.
  • Hybrid environment expertise — Seamless support across Windows, Linux, macOS, and mixed infrastructures.
  • Long-term thinking — We fix what can be fixed and only recommend upgrades when genuinely beneficial (a principle that applies especially well to open source environments).
  • Proven track record — Decades of experience supporting businesses with both modern and legacy systems.
